In the wake of a second devastating earthquake in 2 months, we will again be donating our daily Apple proceeds to help the relief efforts, this time in Chile. Any Mundue apps you purchase on Saturday March 6 will directly benefit the Chilean Red Cross relief efforts. Please help spread the word.

Haiti relief effort results

January 25, 2010

We’re proud to be part of the Indie+Relief program that raised over $143,000 last week. On January 20, 2010 we donated $956 to the American Red Cross and Yéle relief efforts for the people affected by the Haiti earthquake. Thank you to everyone who purchased one of our games (all 478 of you!) and allowed us to contribute in this small way.

iPhone developers team up to donate for Haiti relief effort

January 15, 2010

Indie+Relief

As a part of the Indie+Relief program we are donating the proceeds from all our app sales on January 20, 2010 to assist the Haiti earthquake victims. The proceeds will be donated to both the American Red Cross and Yéle. For every dollar that is spent on our apps we will donate a dollar. This means that in addition to the 70% we normally get from Apple, we’ll contribute the additional 30% (their cut) from our own pocket. If we sell 1,000 copies of our apps (each $1.99) we’ll contribute $1,990.

2009 Holiday Promotion

December 29, 2009

Earlier this month I decided to sponsor a sort of 2009 Holiday promotion for other iPhone developers’ apps. This idea had been kicking around in my head for some time, but now seemed like the right time to put it into action.

I’m not quitting iPhone development

November 12, 2009

Trouble in AppStore land. Someone speaks their mind about the Apple approval process and people point to that and say “see, Apple is wrong and they will fail in the end.” The fact that these complaints get so much publicity is appalling. I harbor no illusions that Apple wants to do anything other than turn a profit in this venture. Issue your complaint, Apple may or may not listen, and then move on with your life/work.

Keywords and Localization

October 31, 2009

If you have an application in the iTunes App Store then you might be considering localizing it to improve sales outside the US. In addition to translating the application’s user interface, you’ll need to translate the App Store description and keywords. There’s a gotcha when you try to submit keywords for the multibyte languages (Chinese and Japanese). (more…)

Adding a shared tracking controller to your iPhone apps

October 30, 2009

No matter what your motivation is for adding analytics to an iPhone app, it’s easy to get started. Setup is very straightforward and the code is easily abstracted so that you can swap providers and/or use multiple services at the same time. The benefit of doing it this way is that there’s one class file to manage, and less chance to make errors. I recently experimented with adding the new Google Analytics package and it was a breeze to implement. Here’s how I did it. (more…)

Thanks a billion!

October 10, 2009

reMovem.png

One billion games of reMovem free played. There, I’ve said it.

I must start by noting that reMovem has had a good life so far. In the fifteen or so months since its release we’ve created 21 versions and updated them to iTunes Connect. That’s 11 for the free version and 10 for the paid version. This alone makes me an expert, or at least experienced, in the App Store process that is much discussed these days.

A Week in the Limelight, the story of reMovem

Part 3

In my previous post I wrote about the run-up to reMovem’s week at the top of the App Store chart. On August 2, 2008, reMovem (then called JawBreaker) reached the number 1 free app on the US iTunes Store. It stayed there for a solid week, during which time it was downloaded several hundred thousand times. It was a busy week!
